I can't believe it's snowing the day after Easter. Benno said that this morning the wind chill was below zero. IT'S APRIL GODDAMNIT!!! I've had quite enough of this.

Everyone around me seems to get sick at the same time.

Well Easter was ok. Except my mom wasn't there because she was at the Urgent Care clinic. And Benno is still scared of my family.
My mom just got back from a safari in South Africa a couple of days ago and she's been sick since she got back. She called me on friday and asked me to bring her a thermometer assuring me that she really wasn't sick she just wanted to be sure. Well I got there and found her nose peeking out from under the down comforter. Her temperature was 102 and she had a really nasty looking bug bite on her leg. Now she was convinced she had lyme disease. So after much debate and a call to Benno's mom I dragged her in to urgent care. The doctor said that the bug bite was probably just infected and gave her some heavy duty antibiotics with instructions to come back if things weren't better in 24 hours. Come Easter morning she's worse, so she drags herself down to the clinic where they puzzle over her for hours. Finally they conclude that she probably has blood poisoning and should be admitted to the hospital except that its a holiday and they're understaffed so instead she should go home. This morning she goes back to the clinic and sees yet another doctor who is pissed that she wasn't admitted last friday. So she has to be in the hospital and recieving IV antibiotics for at least the next 2 days and she has to see a surgeon because the "spider" bite on her leg looks necrotic. Meanwhile my stepdad is working on the final edits of his dissertation which he defends next monday and has to fly to DC today. Always an adventure in my family.
