Why does everyone with a blog suddenly decide to take a break at once? Instapundit, Lileks, Ken Layne... Not to mention Crat and everyone who uses Earthlink or an MCI derivative.

So now I'm sitting here waiting until 4. It is the appointed hour when I am allowed to call the mechanic and delicately inquire if my air conditioning is fixed. (A mere week since if dropped it off.) Not only is the service slow but it's obscenely expensive. Yay!
Really it's not such a big deal. I have another car I can drive and they know this, which probably means that the one-car people get helped before me. Not the end of the world. I trust this mechanic. (He and Benno have some shared ritual involving robes, candles, solemn vows of lifelong loyalty, and a goat.) He fixes my car and it stays fixed. He doesn't charge for easy fixes like tightening a belt or a bolt. And he's actually much cheaper than everyone else.
I want my car back.

The day before yesterday I went to Target in search of a notebook for Benno. I was tired of him swiping mine (full of notes I want to keep.) I also figured that since he's learning database design and management and Oracle this semester, he might want to keep his notes too.
So I end up in the office supply area of Target where there are no notebooks and no pens! A horrible suspicion dawned on me. No surely it's too early for that... Alas! Target has replaced the patio furniture with back-to-school supplies. Granted, they were still only just removing stuff from boxes... But it was July 12th!
Update:
Lileks comments on the same phenomenon. He claims that Target actually exists in the near future rather than the present.
