My weather pixie claims that it's raining. It's not. Although it is cool and overcast. I heard that we weren't going to break 60 on one of the days this weekend. I like fall but this one seems to be cooling off a little early. Well soon we'll be into the season of BoogivingsmasEve (as Lileks aptly describes it.)

Now South Africa is heading straight for the toilet. So sad. Unlike much of tthe rest of Africa, SA had fantastic infrastructure post-apartheid. They could have done very well but the cult of victimhood and entitlement have led them to neglect those things which make the country work. They had strong currency, a good medical system (first heart transplant anyone?) strong agriculture etc etc etc. Now the roads are falling apart, the rand is in the toilet, and everything's going to hell. The president doesn't help any of this. There's the idea that people deserve the leaders they elect, but Mbeki is just an asshole. (He claimed that HIV doesn't cause AIDS that it's poverty and global inequality. Look at what demonizing the pharmaceutical companies over drugs has done. Development and investment has dropped by up to a third.)
