The more corrupt the state, the more numerous the laws.

I've been saying that Europe's going to hell in a handbasket for quite a while but it comes to something when MSNBC runs an article titled "The Rot at Europe's Core." Of course the article focuses on Germany as the "rot" rather than the idiotic socialism being practiced throughout Europe. That socialism will drag France down shortly and will ruin England if it ever fully achieves dominance.

The times we live in. If I had read this in some sci-fi story a few years ago I wouldn't have considered it very plausible.

Orson Scott Card explains President Bush's strategy for dealing with North Korea and Iraq. (Boy, 4 years ago I never would have believed that sentence would come out of my keyboard.)

What the hell?

Homeschooling used to be such a stigma. Now...
It comes to something when you realize that no matter where or when you're going to raise children you will have to prepare them from toddlerhood for the vicious jungle-survival predator-or-prey mentality. I suppose it's not the end of the world if parents actually invest the time in giving their children the skills to make friends and physically defend themselves, but how many children are going to suffer because their parents don't get playground realpolitik. Krav Maga and a copy of Ender's Game. Yeesh.

So Benno and I were at the liquor store getting some cider and this perfectly normal looking middle-aged guy comes in and asks the clerk if they carry Boon's Farm. Shockingly enough the Seventh Street Liquor Barrel doesn't.
