"So. Our ancestors clawed their way out of the caves, fought behemoths with their bare hands; survived earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions, meteor showers and plagues, all so their descendents could sit on the road and wail."

Gaaaaah. That's
AWFUL. This is the issue I have with the FBI, CIA, NSA, and all the other alphabet soup assholes. We have the best technology on the planet and it's in the hands of incompetents directed and supervised by people right on the edge of criminal. Like Echelon, so we have programs that key in on all these key words in all electronic communications. Yet they didn't pick up on the WTC guys. It's either NWO-Illuminati-X files-Conspiracy shit or it's the worst sort of incompetence. People argue about balancing safety and security but most of this shit violates the privacy of everyone with no actual benefit.

Grrrrr.
Grrrrrrr. This is what's known as telegraphing the blow. I don't believe that any additional political traction that this might gain is worth the risk of a preemptive strike against the troops in Kuwait. Or worse the political traction gained if he does attack our troops.

Here we go. I would like to point out that Iraq is seven hours ahead of us. 8pm in Wahington is 3am in Baghdad. It might be tonight.

Ooooh
that would be really bad. Though not terribly surprising. Western travelers are advised to carry their own hypodermics just in case they need medical care while traveling in Africa. What a horrid choice. Risk HIV or death by some other disease treatable by injection. Although if it's true then it'll be pretty easy to stem that infection vector. Needles are cheap and it's much easier to supply and convince health-workers to use them than it is condoms for every sexually active person.

My first thought is that
it's funny (in a very gallows humor sort of way.) The second is that it's very sad. It's the age old cliche: someone sealing themselves up for fear of death and then suffocating or starving. It's sad that they didn't look for (or didn't find any) info on safety for their preparations.
