Wyclef is having surgery as I type this. Everybody cross your fingers.

See I
told you so.
"The American Civil Liberties Union sued on her behalf, arguing that revoking the license violated her right to religious freedom. They said the state acted out of prejudice against Muslims and only objected to the veiled photograph after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks."
The other interesting tidbit.
"The 35-year-old U.S. citizen has worn a full veil since converting to Islam about six years ago."
Uh huh.

Good news so far. Wyclef's surgery was successful. He's recovering now. He's doped up on kitty pain-meds and he's got a serious case of the munchies. We get to bring him home on Sunday or Monday barring complications. Now everybody cross your fingers that it wasn't more than the estimate. I don't think the U of M vets take jars of pennies in payment.

Grrrr. This is a
black day indeed. Now that they know they can get such info it's likely that only a Supreme Court ruling will stop them demanding it. Remember this attitude when peple start sqawking about how skipping commercials is theft. They have the money to persue whatever they decide is a crime.

Gah that's horrific.
Boycotting Jewish businesses. Not Israeli businesses. Not businesses that support Israel. Businesses founded by Jews "hands are stained with 12 year-old Muhammad Al Durrah's innocent life."

Look, all those red states have laws almost identical to the one we just passed. Do their streets run red with the blood of children? Similar laws are up before the legislature in Ohio and Wisconsin and sitting on the governor's desk in Missouri. Meanwhile it's illegal to own a gun in New York, L.A., and Chicago.

I Still Hate Qwest. My voicemail still doesn't work but I am assured it will be fixed by Monday. This is why utilites shouldn't be monopolies. What threat do I have? I suppose I could find a way to get all my services elsewhere but it would be a lot of work.

Two words: Home School.

This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I'm sorry to be so blunt but Islam is dragging this country into the past with the help of PC lunatics. Yeah yeah I know it's just some muslims not all muslims yadda yadda...
Remember when they used to beat kids for writing cack-handed? Just how different is this? Is there now a PC expectation that lefties learn to use the "correct" hand when dealing with muslims? What if the teacher is a lefty? Stupidest shit I've ever heard.

No wait, this is the stupidest shit I've ever heard.

Freedom of religion does apply to wearing a veil. The government cannot tell her she must take it off. The government can't tell her what she can or can't wear. The government can however impose as many requirements/ restrictions as they want on the privilage of driving. Just as you are allowed to drink as much as you want but are not allowed to then drive.

She does not have to drive. It may be inconvenient not to be able to but it is not a fundamental right or freedom. Plenty of people make sacrifices in order to live their convictions. All this whining is a case of wanting to have your cake and eat it too. I am sympathetic to that feeling but that doesn't make her right.

Of course if the court finds against her it'll just be another case of discrimination and be used as fuel by conspiracy-theory nutjobs. Lord help the judge if they're jewish.
