Y'know, I think I'm going to write some apocalyptic fiction. Only the agent of doom isn't going to be a meteor or a virus or a nuke. It's going to be the entire world relying on the piece of shit known as
Windows.

You have millions of companies and utilities using millions of computers that all rely on the same constantly attacked system. Why on earth are we putting all our eggs in one basket this way? Standardization is great. Except when it's not. It's just like biology, you must have genetic diversity or your entire population is too vulnerable. (I know, I know, our computer use wasn't planned, it just kinda grew.)
