On the other hand... this isn't good news. Don't get me wrong, it's great news that they caught this, but I can't help but thinking that it's very possible that the next big terrorist attack will happen in europe.
And this... well this just made me laugh out loud.
"Last week a new libel was invented by the editor of the PA official daily,Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, in an interview on PA TV. The editor explained that because Israel suffers from low immigration, it was Israel who started last month's fire in the Parisian Synagogue -- to convince French Jews to immigrate to Israel."
Then there's this. I guess it's not just europe.
"Many have heard of the horrific problems in France with an unprecedented outbreak of crimes among an estimated 5 million Muslim immigrants. Middle Eastern males now make up 45,000 of the 90,000 inmates in French prisons. There are no-go areas in Paris for police and citizens alike. The rule of law has broken down so badly that when police went to one of these areas recently to round up three Islamic terrorists, they went in armoured vehicles, with heavy weaponry and more than 1,000 armed officers – just to arrest a few suspects.
Why did they need such numbers? Because the threat of terrorist reprisal was minimal compared to the anticipated revolt by thousands of Middle Eastern and North African residents, who have no respect for the rule of law in France and consider intrusions by police and other authorities a declaration of war.
The problems in Paris's Muslim communities are being replicated in Sydney at an alarming rate. Paris has seen an explosion of rapes committed by Middle Eastern males against French women in the past 15 years. The rapes are almost identical to those in Sydney. The rapes are committed not only for sexual gratification: there are also deep racial undertones, along with threats of violence and retribution.
What is more alarming is the identical reaction among some sections of the media and criminologists in France: they downplay the race factor and even gang up on those who try to draw attention to the widening gulf between Middle Eastern youths and the rest of French society."
As these guys said in response to a good piece in the Times:
"He forgets that the natural conclusion from the premise of intractable Islamic hatred is that the West may be forced not so much to befriend its tormentors so much as destroy them utterly. Friedman's own article is proof of how steadily, yet imperceptibly, the tides have risen in the course of the war itself. What would have been unprintable in any major American newspaper in November, 2001 -- immediately after the attack on New York city -- now seems so hopelessly weak that one cannot but wonder how close the crisis point is. And it is Islam, not the West, that is skirting the edge of the abyss. Unlike the reluctant Friedman, many Islamists, caught up in their invincible ignorance and the fantasy engendered by controlled media, will never know how paper-thin is the wall that stands between them and the roaring waves they have conjured until it bursts in on their poor world, upon unfortunate children in their evil playhouse. Now has the last race between the requirements of humanity and urgings of necessity begun. Let every man do his utmost."I don't believe that we are at the kill or be killed threshold yet. But it may come to that if we don't have any better options. I think that the only reason that Irael has restrained themselves from completely annihilating the people sworn to destroy them is the memory of the holocaust. Unfortunately we lack that perspective and I think we also lack the willingness to tolerate what they have. I desperately hope that we can prevent such a war but the decision is not ultimately within our control.
Ignoring the problem doesn't make it go away. It just makes the victims and the families of victims that much closer to the edge. I don't want to see what it would do to our civilization if we were forced to wage a total war on fundamentalist Islam. But if it's a choice between freedom (civil liberties, the freedom of movement within the country, the freedom to dress in a short skirt without being raped by some thug, the freedom to publish critical opinions without death-threats, etc...) and the destruction of our enemies, well you don't want to make the richest most powerful civilization in human history have to make that choice.
. . .
Well that's good news. Attacks on our troops are down 22% since they caught the asshole.
