Some of our friends lost power tonight. We brought them some candles. Take a minute now and think about what you'd do if you lost power during this weather. It's much better to have thought out your options beforehand. Do you know how to drain your pipes? (Find the main water shut-off, close it, open your taps upstairs, and open the lowest tap in your house- likely your laundry sink.) Now huddle under some blankets.

Gee. Wouldn't it be nice to have
a single elected representative who actually wanted to spend less money?

Of course I wholeheartedly support the new space plans, so that answers my own question. Bread and circuses. Everybody has an interest group. No politician is willing to take money away from special interests, and if they can't use pork as bait how would they ever get anything done? So it seems that up and up and up we go, no matter who's in office.
