500 National Guard troops at the Superdome can't prevent
child rape?!?

You and you alone are the ultimate guarantee of your own safety and that of your family. No one else may be willing or able to protect you. No one else is guaranteed to be there. Take a moment to reflect.

Remember the LA riots? Remember the sack of Rome? Remember the legend of Troy? Remember Hurricane Andrew? Remember the great San Francisco earthquake? Remember Beruit? Remember the great Chicago fire? Remember Nanking? Remember Pompeii? Remember Sarajevo? Remember Rwanda? The total breakdown of law and order happens several times each DECADE. It can and has happened here. Don't bury your head in the sand.

Probably the most useful thing I can say about the disaster is: Who do you think is going to take care of you if this scale of disaster were to strike where you live? What are YOU going to do to ensure that you never find yourself in that situation? Massive catastrophe can strike anywhere with little to no warning. You could easily find yourself totally cut off from the world for days or weeks.

Do YOU have water stored? Do you have a way to filter dirty water? Do you have enough food? Do you have a way to get yourself out of the area? Do you have a map? Do you have a radio to keep up on rising floodwaters, riots, and the like? Do you have a first aid kit? Do you have a light source that will last for days? Do you have a way to prevent
moochers, looters and thugs from taking the above? Answer those questions now and avoid the utter hell that the people trapped in New Orleans are experiencing.

If you can afford to provide those things for yourself, why would you neglect to do so and further deplete the disaster supplies available to those who cannot afford to? Take responsibility for your own welfare, no one may be able or available to help you.

Caesar has stumbled. The knives may come out.
