Can I get a '
Hell Yeah'! (via Christie)

Although I feel obligated to point out that the recent wailing and gnashing of teeth on the subject isn't entirely free of partisanship. This kinda crap has been going on since I was in high school when Saint Bill was in charge, and probably much longer. Your medical privacy has been eroded by HIPAA. (You're surprised? War is peace, freedom is slavery, and ignorance is strength.) Your financial privacy was already nonexistent. This is a problem of governments, not of political parties.

Facial recognition software... Traffic cameras... RFID... Sobriety checkpoints... This is the information age. Everyone collects data. Once a database exists, it becomes a tool. Tools can be used or abused depending on who controls or has access to them at any given moment. That's why gun registration inevitably leads to confiscation. The whole Nazi IBM punchcards thing should have been example enough.
