What do the Pope, the head of the Greek Orthodox church, and the former Archbishop of Canterbury agree on?

Good to read.
Also pleasing.
Very pleasing.
Extremely pleasing.
Must read.
This too.

I suspect it's still too early for a real preference cascade to take off, but it's a beginning.

Duur, only 30 years and millions of deaths
too late. Remember that this is where absolutism and junk science will lead. Extrapolate.

So, I've gained a new appreciation for the CD format thanks to
this, (another related subject.) Just before I read that, I had also stumbled across and marveled at this. I remember barely a few years ago, being astonished that someone could possibly find a way to fill a 2 gig hard drive with anything (it was a 19 year old guy, guess.) Now, the world is changing due to exponential technological advancement. The singularity is near dudes.

This is a perfect example of the Long Tail phenomenon.

So another year older... another few months gone by...

Well my computer's hard drive nuked itself. Learn from my example. Back yourself up on a regular schedule, maybe the 1st of every month. Also, don't get too dependent on your computer's keychain for passwords. I got lazy. I lost mucho data. Beehoo.

On the other hand, forced amputation from the 24/7 news firehose has been well, kinda nice. Books are ever so much more calm and orderly. The problem with temporary hermitage is that it just makes the insanity of your fellows all the more readily apparent. Every time I consider peeking over the battlements or dipping my toe back in, I'm reminded that I share this planet with at least 5 billion raving lunatics. We have GOT to start working double-time on the whole space colonization gig.

I have lots to say about the latest idiotic nonsense, but I find myself wondering if it's worth the effort to type. It's election season again. Didn't we just do this? The
UN is useless. Haven't we established that? The middle east could double for the Augean stables. And? The media are both partisan and incompetent. The TSA has moved beyond self-parody. Yet people follow the judas goat.

I find myself feeling that I've said it all before. Oh well. It is nice to have dated proof that none of this should come as a surprise.
