Well John Kerry decided
not to follow my advice. Sordid, tawdry, illuding. Does anyone really want to sit through 4 years of this on every issue? 'I supported it even though I voted against it. I oppose it even though I voted for it. I never said I was Irish. It's my wife's SUV. He knocked me down.' Blah blah blah. It's so stupid. It's more painful to me to watch John Kerry obfuscate than it is to listen to Bush mispronounce the word nuclear and blunder through public speaking. That's saying something. Quite aside from the issues, Kerry is earning my loathing in the way he comports himself.

Is anyone else disturbed by the fact that we have two skull and bones members as our choice for president? The conspiracy geeks must be working overtime. I don't have anything against Skull and Bones. I don't buy the mafia comparison. There's no evidence at all that the organization participates in anything criminal. Consider the membership. The mafia analogy is silly. But I do think that it highlights the narrowness of the choices we're offered.

I can't say that I envy the British people their press. They tend to be utterly lacking in a sense of shame. But I do
love a good public tweaking.

Ok. Being a
stupid ass 33 years ago doesn't necessarily mean anything at all today. I mean look at the hair. People did crazy things back then. But fudging and evading about it for one's entire career? For pity sake, just admit it. Say, 'yes it was stupid, I felt very strongly at the time. I have a different perspective now.' Own the gesture. It's a powerful gesture presumably motivated by powerful sentiment. Tell people what you thought then and what you think now. Show a trace of character. That's all it would take. This is so stupid and petty and sordid.

It's also diagnostic.
